Patagonia's Worn Wear Snow Tour
Patagonia's Worn Wear tour is coming to 28 destinations across Europe this year, launching in Engelberg before heading to Europe's main mountain resorts like Laax, Val d’Isere, Innsbruck, La Grave and Chamonix. The Worn Wear caravan will also stop at some British mountain towns, stopping at Fort William, Aviemore, Aberdeen, Perth, Renfrew and Edinburgh.
Patagonia's Worn Wear programme was launched in 2013, an idea created to encourage people to take good care of their gear - repairing it as necessary, regardless of brand, to ensure it lasts as long as it can. This year's tour begins on the 13th January and will head to 28 destinations across Europe in a bespoke wooden snow trailer, repairing zips, buttons, rips and tears, and for the first time also repairing GORE-TEX apparel.
The Worn Wear programme also aims to educate outdoorsmen on how best to protect and repair their garments, teaching skills such as patching and re-waterproofing shells to ensure snow gear can last for as long as possible.
Repairing gear, instead of buying new kit every season, is one of the most important things we can do to protect and conserve our planet; reducing CO2 emissions, the waste and water required to make a piece of clothing. Indeed, by keeping a piece of clothing for 9 extra months, we can reduce carbon, waste and water usage by 20-30%.
